| A Bit of HistoryInterurban railroad transportation between Chicago, Illinois and South Bend, Indiana began in 1908. Today the South Shore Railroad continues to be a popular method of transportation. Pictured at the right is car Number 14, which was one of the new steel Pullman cars that was put into operation in 1926, now retired from service. The South Shore Railroad is also the nation's last interurban railroad line still in operation. More History |
