Talchen Langundowagen Hopoakan Trail Off The Beaten Path
The Tatchen Langundowagon Hopoakan Trail

Here's a look at this newly developed trail which is located in the Schleicher section of the city. Or simply put, just east of Columbia Avenue and just south of the Borman Expressway. We captured these scenes on a warm sunny day. Different seasons will reward one with other views as the scenery changes with the weather conditions.

The trail is built on top of the earthen berm which was constructed a number of years ago, to keep the flood waters of the Little Calumet River out of the Schleicher neighborhood. The area flooded several times before this retaining wall was constructed.

Tatchen Langundowagon Hopoakan Trail starts at the foot of the Columbia Avenue Bridge as it crosses over the Little Calumet River and continues just short of its termination at Northcote Avenue. The trail does break along the way due to a pumping station at the river's edge causing a disruption in the trail, but picks up once again.

Elevated above street level the trail gives you a unique look into the meandering Little Calumet River. Trees and shrubs help to isolate the pathway from the street to give it a more pleasing natural effect.
