Late December 1913. The newly reorganized La Vendor Cigar Company of Hammond has just been infused with capitol stock valued at $15,000. The shares of which 150 were issued, the majority of the stock is controlled by Ed Simon who also serves as the company president and treasurer. Mr. Simon is also the founder of the original company.
By the middle of January 1914 the La Vendor Cigar Company hopes to be home in its new factory building located along Hohman Avenue adjacent to the Wabash Railroad tracks. At present the company's work force employs some twenty people at the Huehn Building factory. By the summer of this year the plants labor force will swell to some forty to fifty workers. The company manufactures the popular "La Vendor" and El Cardo" brand cigars. |
