Here's a look at the business community during the early turn of the twentieth century.
The two establishments pictured above were located in the downtown area of the city.

The La Vendor Havana Cigar Company was situated several blocks east of Hohman Avenue on Logan Street, facing the IHB/NYC railroad tracks. The photo above shows the interior of the Manager's Office on September 1909. The company was a manufacturer of many fine cigars.

Kennedy Laundry and Supply Company was located in the 100 block of State Street in Downtown Hammond. From the photo above it looked like the company was quite eager to pick up your dirty laundry. Notice the street car tracks in the foreground. This picture taken somewhere around 1919 to 1920.
